According to the Indian constitution, an Indian citizen has the right to cast his/her vote at the election. It is totally up to him/her if he/she wants to want. However, the citizen has to be of the age 18-year or above 18-years to cast to vote.
In order, to vote he/she must possess a voters’ ID card, the voters’ ID card is issued by the Election Commission of India and the same authority conducts the election. To acquire the voters’ ID the applicant has two choices

- Online method
He/she can apply for a new voters’ ID using any one of the methods, the only few mandatory requirements for applying for a voters’ ID card in India are

- He/she should be able to submit all the documents required when requested

Here are the documents that are eligible to be submitted as a proof to the Election Commission of India.

- Address proof – Passport, Ration card, Driving license, Land phone bill, Electricity bill, Gas bill, Rent Agreement, Income tax assessment bill, letter or post delivered by the Indian postal department and Water Authority bills
- Age Proof – Birth Certificate, Driving license, High school mark sheet, PAN card, Aadhaar letter issued by the UIDAI, and Passport.
Here is the step by step procedure for applying voters’ ID in Mizoram
Currently, the Mizoram Chief Election Office Mizoram official website does not provide any option for applying fresh voters’ ID card online. However, the Election Commission of India official website provides an option for the application of voters’ ID Mizoram.
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Election commission of India” or click here instead http://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html
Step 2: On the Home screen of the Election Commission of India website, you can find several options arranged on the sides. On the right side, you can find the option “National Voters Service Portal”. Select this option to proceed or click here to skip http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: Now, the official website of “National Voter’s Services Portal” opens up on a new page. From these options select “ Apply Online for registration of new voter/due to shifting for AC” or click here instead http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6
Step 4: A new page with a “Form 6” appears on the screen right now; you will find a long fill-up form below it. The default medium of the form will be set as Hindi;however, the page has the option to change the form language to English. To change the language, click the drop-down button placed above the heading and select the language suitable for you. Step 5: Now, start filling in the form carefully. At the beginning you will be requested to select the state, click the drop-down button and select “Mizoram”, next select the “District” from the drop-down menu and the “assembly/Parliamentary Constituency” accordingly from the drop-down menu PS: It is mandatory that the asterisk (*) marked fields on the form should be filled in. Skip any of the asterisks marked field and the server will not accept the form.
Step 6: Once have started filling in the form, enter all the details carefully. The form, at the “Optional Particulars” section has the field to enter the mobile number and email ID, enter these two. The server will send a link to this email id after the completion of application process.
Step 7: Now, after the “Optional Particulars” section, you will find the “Upload Supporting Documents” field and the supported formats of the file should be uploaded here. The first field under this will be “Your Photograph”, to upload the photograph as proof, click the “Choose File” button near, now, a dialogue box pops up, select the file (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your file destination and click the “open” button on the bottom and the file will be uploaded to the server.
Step 8: The next field after “Your Photograph” will be “Age-Proof” field, click the “Choose File” button near to upload the age proof document, a dialogue box pops up, select the file (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your file destination and click the “open” button on the bottom of the dialogue box and the file will be uploaded. Now from the drop-down menu near, select the type of document uploaded.
Step 9: Now the next field after “Age-Proof” is “Address-Proof” click the “Choose File” button near to upload the address proof document, a dialogue box pops up, select the file (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your file destination and click the “open” button on the bottom of the dialogue box and the file will be uploaded instantly.Now from the drop-down menu near, select the type of document uploaded
Step 10: After successful completion of Uploading supporting documents fill-up the declaration form provided below with the requested details and click “Submit” button.
Step 11: Now, the page will display the acknowledgment slip with a reference ID and other details. Save this reference ID for future use.
Once, the application procedure is completed, a booth level officer will visit you for verification, on successful verification the application processing continues and the voters’ ID will be delivered to your doorstep within 30 days.

Step 4: A page with “Online Application Status” heading appears on the screen and a single field fill-up box below it. Enter the reference ID as requested and click the “Track Status” button below.
Now, the page will display the status of your application.
Download Voters ID online Mizoram
The Election Commission of India does not provide any option to download voters’ ID card online. The only way to get voters’ ID is through a post from the Election Commission of India after applying for the voters’ ID. However, there is one available option which is usually preferred to get the voters’ ID card details. But, this is not an official document and is not accepted by most of the Indian institutions.

Step 2: On the Home screen of the Election Commission of India website, on the right side, you can find the option “National Voters Service Portal”. Select this option or click here to skip http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: Now, the “National Voter’s Services Portal” opens up on a new page, click on the right side option “Citizen Information” and the two options below it, now, select the option “Booth, AC, and PC”
Step 4: On the fill-up form that appears on the screen fill in all the details carefully and click the “Search” button.
If the voters’ ID card is generated and the name is added to the voters’ list, the page will display your voters’ ID card details and the same page will have the option to print and download the details. Click this option to download and print the voters’ ID card details.
Like mentioned above, this voter ID card details downloaded cannot be used for any official purpose. One of the main reasons is that this print voter ID card is not official.
