Jeetendra hails from a Punjabi family from the holy city of Amritsar, with his parents Amarnath Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor engaged in the family business if imitation jewelry. He did his schooling from St. Sebastian Goan High School in Girgaaum, along with Rajesh Khanna, a close friend who later went on to become the super star of Bollywood.
