Randeep Singh Hooda was born in Rohtak, Haryana and he hails from a Jat family, with his father Dr Ranbir Hooda, a surgeon and mother, Asha Hooda, a social activist. He did his schooling from Motilal Nehru School of Sports, a boarding school in Sonepat. Randeep was a gifted sportsman, participating in sports like swimming and show jumping at the National Level and bagging medals for his school. Randeep Hooda made his career debut with an Hinglsih film called “Monsoon Wedding” by ace film maker Mira Nair. The 2001 film was successful commercially as well as critically. Randeep had to wait another three years for his next film, which came in the shape of “D”, a gangster movie by Ram Gopal Varma. The actor was in the title role, which is said to be inspired by Dawood Ibrahim, and received rave reviews for his performance. He appeared in a number of movies after that, including “Love Khichdi”, “Darna Zaroori hai”, “Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye”, “Ru Ba Ru”, “Rang Rasiya” and “Karma Aur Holi”, but none of them got success for Randeep.
