A voters’ ID card is one of the essential document that an Indian citizen of an age of 18-years or above should possess. A voters’ ID card grants the cardholder the right to vote.
According to the Indian constitution, every Indian citizen both NRI and native can cast their vote during an election if he/she is of age 18-years or above. They are also eligible to apply for a voters’ ID and to acquire it.
With all these being told, a voters’ ID is not just a document that grants its holder to cast his/her vote, it is also one of the most important proof document. It can prove the card holder’s identity, address, age, and nationality. Most of the Indian institutions both private and public accept this document as a proof for its official purposes.
The Election Commission of India is the authority that issues the voters’ ID card and they are the government institution that conducts and controls the election in India. Today, the ECI provides two methods to a citizen to apply for a fresh voters’ ID card.

Pre-requisite
- Scanned copy of the applicant’s Passport size photo
- Scanned copy of Age proof
- Scanned copy of Address proof
Documents eligible to be submitted as proof
- Age Proof – Birth Certificate, Driving license, High school mark sheet, PAN card, Aadhaar letter issued by the UIDAI, andPassport.
- Address proof – Passport, Ration card, Driving license, Land phone bill, Electricity bill, Gas bill, Rent Agreement, Income tax assessment bill, letter or post delivered by the Indian postal department and Water Authority bills
Apply Voters ID Online
The Chief Electoral Officer Rajasthan official website does not provide any option to apply voters’ ID card online. However, the official website of election commission of India provides the option to apply voters’ ID card online.
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Election commission of India” or click here to go directlyhttp://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html
Step 2: On the Home screen of the ECI website. On the right-hand side, you will find an option that says “National Voters Service Portal”. Select this option or click here insteadhttp://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: Now, a new page opens up on the screen with a heading “National Voter’s Services Portal” and below that, you will find several options. Select the option “ Apply Online for registration of new voter/due to shifting for AC” or click herehttp://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6
Step 4: A new page appears on the screen now with a heading “Form 6” and a fill-up form below it. The entire form language will be set to Hindi, if you want to change the form language, click the drop-down button above the heading and then select the language. Step 5: Now, You can start filling in the form. PS: all the fields marked with an asterisk (*) needed to be filled mandatory. If you skip any of the asterisk marked fields, the server will not accept the form and an error message will keep popping up the screen.
Step 6: Once have started filling in the form, enter all the details carefully. PS: enter a valid email ID and mobile number because once the application procedure is completed, the server will provide you a link to your personal profile and the status of the application will be updated regularly to your provided contact details.
Step 7: If you are half the way on the form filling in the fields, you will find a mandatory requirement to upload the documents as the proof of the details entered. The first field will be to upload “Your Photograph”, click the “Choose File” button below and a dialogue box pops up the screen, select the passport size photo (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your saved file destination and click the “open” button on the dialogue box and the file will be uploaded.
Step 8: Now, you will find the field as requesting you to enter the “Age-Proof “document, click the button “Choose File” button below and a dialogue box pops up, select the Age proof document (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your saved file destination and click the “open” button on the dialogue box and the file will be uploaded. After the file gets uploaded, select the type of document uploaded from the option below using the drop-down menu.
Step 9: Next, you will have the last field requesting you to upload the “Address proof”, click the “Choose File” button below and a dialogue box will appear, select the Address proof document (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from your saved file destination and click the “open” button on the dialogue box and the file will be uploaded. After the file gets uploaded, select the type of document uploaded from the option below using the drop-down menu.
Step 10: Once, you have completed the uploading the 3 files, the next section will be to fill up the declaration form, fill in the declaration form as requested and click “Submit” button.
Now, the server will send an email to the email id provided. The same website will now display an acknowledgement slip on the screen which contains a reference number/ID and a form number on it. Save this reference ID and the form number.
Once, the application procedure is completed successfully, the Election Commission of India office will allot a booth level officer to visit your residential address to verify the details submitted. On successful verification, the voters’ ID card procedure will be completed and the voters’ ID card will be delivered to your doorstep within 30-days. In the meantime, you can track the status of the application submitted online.
Check Form application status online
Like mentioned in the beginning, the Chief Electoral officer Rajasthan official website does not provide any option to apply, check or download the application status online. The only method available and the steps to follow are mentioned in detail below.

Step 3: Now, a new tab opens up with a heading “National Voter’s Services Portal” and several options below it. Select the option “Track application status” or click here instead http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/trackstatus
Step 4: A new page appears on the screen with a heading “Online Application Status” and a single field fill up form below the heading. Enter the “Reference ID/number” as requested on the form.
Step 5: Once, you completed entering the ID, click the “Track Status” button below.
Now, the website will display the status of the form application submitted.
Download the Voters ID online.
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Election commission of India” or click here instead http://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html
Step 2: On the Home screen of the Election Commission of India website, you can find several options arranged left-hand side and right-hand side. On the right-hand side, you will find an option that says “National Voters Service Portal” the same will be written in Hindi too. Select this option or instead click here http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: On this page, on the right-hand side you will find a heading “Citizen Information” and two options below it. Select the option “Booth, AC, and PC” or click here instead http://electoralsearch.in/
Step 4: Now, on the page, you will find an option “Search by Details” and “Search by EPIC No”, select any one option and a fill-up form will appear. Enter all the details carefully as requested and submit the form.
Once, the form is submitted and if the entered details match the server records, the page will display your name on the screen. Click this name and the whole voters’ ID card details will be displayed. On this same scroll down and you can find a “Print” option below. Click this print option and the details will be downloaded and printed.
PS: This downloaded or printed voter’ ID card details cannot be used for any official purposes. This document will not be accepted by most of the Indian institutions are proof.
