A voters’ ID is a very important document in India and one of the essential documents an Indian citizen should possess. According to the constitution of India, every Indian citizen of an age 18-years and above has the right to cast their vote at an election to elect their representative.
In India, the voters’ ID card is issued by the Election Commission of India at the same time they are responsible for conducting and controlling the elections in India. Eligibility criteria
- Applicant should be an Indian citizen
- Applicant should be 18 years old or above
- Applicant if NRI, should be able to produce a document that proves his/her Indian citizenship.
Documents eligible
- Age Proof – Birth Certificate, Driving license, High school mark sheet, PAN card, Aadhaar letter issued by the UIDAI, and Passport.
- Address proof – Passport, Ration card, Driving license, Land phone bill, Electricity bill, Gas bill, Rent Agreement, Income tax assessment bill, letter or post delivered by the Indian postal department and Water Authority bills
Things to remember
- All the proof document files have to be scanned and uploaded to the form during the registration process. The file scanned and saved should be less than the 100Kb file size
- The fill-up form for registration will have mandatory fields to fill in; if you skip any mandatory fields the form will be rejected.

Step 2: On the Home screen page you will find several options, select the option “Online Voters Registration” by clicking this option or click here http://www.nvsp.in/ .

Step 4: Now, the page will display a fill-up form with the heading “Form 6”. The default medium of the form 6 will be set to Hindi; the page will have options to change the language. Step 5: Now, start filling in the form carefully with all the details as requested on the form. PS: All the asterisk (*) marked fields are mandatory, skip any of the asterisks marked field and the website will not accept your form.
Step 6: While filling in the form, remember to be careful enough to enter all the details correct as same as on the proof records.
Step 7: On the form, you will find fields that request you to upload the proof documents. At this section, the first field will be to upload “Your Photograph”, to upload the photograph, click on the “Choose File” button near and then a box pops up, now, select the photo to be uploaded(jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and then, click the “open” button on the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded instantly.
Step 8: The next field will be to upload the “Age-Proof”, now, click the button “Choose File” button near and then a box pops up, select the document required (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and click the “open” button at the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded. Now, select the type of document that you have uploaded from drop-down menu near.
Step 9: Next, will be to upload the “Address-proof”, click the button “Choose File” button near and a box pops up, select the document required (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and click the “open” button at the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded. Step 10: Once, you have completed the uploading procedure; the next field will be to fill in the “declaration form”. Fill in this declaration form as requested and click the “Submit” button below.
After successfully submitting the form, a booth level office will visit your residence within a week to verify the details submitted, on successful verification the voters’ ID card application processing continues and the voters’ ID card will be delivered to your address within 30 days.

Step 3: On the new page, enter the reference ID as requested and click the “Track Status” button.
Now, the website will display the status of your application online.

Now, if the name is added to the voters’ list, the name will be displayed on the screen. Click this name and then hit the print button on the down bottom of the screen and the voters’ ID card details will be downloaded and printed.
